The General Cargo team form the backbone to the business and possess broad and diverse skill sets with expertise across the logistics space. Their experience allows them to successfully maneuver around different potential issues within areas of clearing, transportation and dealing with government institutions such as KRA and the associated bureaucracy and procedures. Crucially, our personnel and senior management team are customer-centric people who are well-known, well-connected and respected within the industry with an in-depth understanding of how different businesses operate and their individual service requirements.

EXECUTIVE TEAM

Chief Executive Officer

Nayendranath (Vishal) Nunkoo

Vishal is CEO of Velogic since 2011. He previously joined Rogers Group in 1993, where he held various positions within the Service Planning & Development, the Aviation and Logistics and the Enterprise Information Solutions departments. He holds an MBA in Finance and an MSc in Engineering.

Managing Director - East Africa

Mehul BhatT

Mehul joined Velogic in 2015 and is responsible for driving the development and expansion of Velogic in Africa. He has previously worked for Chevron and A.P. Moller Maersk based in USA, Denmark and Africa and India. Mehul also has an MBA from London Business School.

Chief Finance and Investment Officer

Hansraz (Hans) Mulloo

Hansraz (Hans) Mulloo was appointed Chief Finance and Investment Officer in December 2023. As a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, he brings with him over two decades of experience, having served in various senior positions.

MANAGEMENT TEAM

Chief Operations Officer

Hitesh Manilal Kara

Hitesh Kara has deep knowledge and skill in Customs, Port & Transportation procedures and operations. He joined General Cargo Services to head the operations section. He is responsible for overall day-to-day tactical logistics operations support which involves interaction and coordination between multiple functional groups working to support Customs clearance, Port procedure & transportation operations. Hitesh is providing operational excellence, delivering superior customer service and focusing on continuous improvement and turn-around growth.

He brings professional experience in Customs, Port & Transportation procedures and operations, and over the last 24 years has worked with multiple local and international Clearing and Forwarding companies. He was the Operations director with United Clearing Company Limited for past 18 years

Hitesh has strong ability to solve problems while also building relationships and strengthening our message of “TEAM”. He is Action-oriented with the ability to be flexible as needs of the business shift. Able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Effective in planning and managing project timelines

Chief Commercial Officer

Priyeen Jethwa

Priyeen is the Chief Commercial Officer for GCS and has a vast working experience within the Shipping and Logistics Industry. This cutting-edge experience has given him upper hand as far as relationship building, maintenance and business growth is concerned. He has a keen interest in excellent customer service and pushing the business to deliver beyond expectation.

He has previously worked for companies such as Damco Logistics (part of A P Moller Maersk Group) and Mitchell Cotts Freight Kenya Ltd from 2011 to 2018. During this time, he has held roles within Strategy, Business Development, Procurement, Branding and general management.

Priyeen has direct contact with GCS clients and is keen on developing relationships and growing the business through building up commercial strategies and implementing them. He works hard to align all processes towards meeting the commercial objectives of the business. Being a people person, Priyeen successfully helps maintain a positive GCS brand and keep the clients happy.

Chief Financial Officer

MANISH BANSAL

Manish Bansal was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of Velogic group ,East Africa in April 2024,

He is a Dynamic Finance Professional , with over 18 years of experience in managing finance and other verticals of Shipping & Logistics. Prior to joining Velogic, he has worked in various multinational shipping & Logistics Companies in various parts of Africa and India. His professional Journey is a testament to his unwavering commitment towards financial management and his passion for expanding in the complex world of logistics management.

A Chartered Accountant from India, and Master of Business Finance by Educational qualification , His expertise is not confined to finance domain, he is actively engage with all verticals of organization  and external agencies. His Insights have been invaluable in helping corporates extending their boundaries in an increasingly complex  dynamic world.

Head of Human Resource

Josephine Letting

Josephine C. Letting joined GCS to head the Human Resource department and she is an HR Practitioner with over twelve years experience and a Certified Member of the Institute of Human Resource Management. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership in all aspects of human resources, ensuring that HR strategies are aligned with the overall goals of the growth of the organization.

An experienced Human Resources practitioner with a demonstrated history of working in the Human Resources Industry

Josephine uses her skills towards achieving the company’s goals, to reach full potential to provide good leadership, integrity and honesty

She is a strong human resources professional with a bachelor’s degree focused in Human Resources Management and with an MBA Strategic Management.

Head of Finance

Samson Njera

Samson Njera Joined the finance Department of General Cargo Services Ltd in 1997 as an Accounts and has risen through the ranks to become the head of Finance.

He takes care of all the important financial functions of an organization, maintaining a far sightedness in order to ensure that the funds collected and are utilized in the most efficient manner, leading to Profitability, growth and goodwill of the firm.

His long service ensures stability in finance docket and linkages with the other departments

Warehouse Manager

DANIEL NZUNGI MUTUA

Daniel Mutua has a wide experience in warehousing and distribution. He has been instrumental in our warehouse expansion plan. With his deep experience ,interpersonal and leadership skills, he  has seen our warehousing business grown tremendously since he joined.

Over the last 10 years has worked with multiple local and international clearing and forwarding companies offering warehousing and distribution services. His expertise lies in successfully overseeing warehouse management in different companies like Damco logistics (Maersk Kenya), Smart Logistics, shipping and receiving, and logistical coordination while collaborating with multicultural, diverse staff to maximize productivity, efficiency, and overall performance.

Daniel spearheads the efficient receipt, dispatch and storage of goods besides being accountable for maintaining the safety, security of the workplace. He is also responsible for the day to day activity of running the inventory and warehouse operations ensuring that the inventory system is fully operational. His previous work with Imara Agro Kenya ltd as the country manager allows him to create competitive business strategies and develop business models that help our warehouse business scale new heights.

Operations Manager- Mombasa

Sunal Mandal

Dynamic and results-oriented professional with over 4 years of experience in the automotive industry as a General Manager and subsequent experience as an Assistant Sales Manager at Kensalt.

Possesses a strong educational background in Operations Management and Financial Management, with a proven track record in leadership, sales, and operational efficiency.

Lead and manage daily operations of the company. Develop and implement strategic plans to improve efficiency and profitability. Oversee staff performance and facilitate professional development. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Manage budgets and reports to maintain financial health.

Shipping Manager

Geoffrey Wanjala Kwara

Geoffrey Wanjala Kwara is one of the longest serving employees in General Cargo Services Limited and has a vast knowledge in Shipping related matters as well as Port operations. He has been the brain behind the formation of Shipping as a department on its own to improve and enrich customer service not only in the Shipping section but also CFS related issues too.  Geoffrey takes pride in professional experience in Shipping and Logistics field and he has worked with General Cargo Services for the past 16 years.  For these years he main focus has been on Shipping and Cargo Clearance. He is responsible for negotiations with the Shipping Lines and CFSs for better service rates and or terms on behalf of our clients, Management and dispatch of all important Shipping documents like Bill of Ladings, Tracking for ETA of shipments, Planning for the upcoming shipments as to completion of relevant documentation as per the regulations,  giving consignees and or prospective importers cost effective guide in choosing the best shipping line and or agent based on the shipper’s location just to mention but a few.

Accounts Receivables Officer


Beatrice Ndoro Kitsao


Betty has a deep knowledge of GCS clients and their specific requirements. She currently works in the Accounts Receivables department which is a critical role for the company cash flows.


Betty joined GCS 27 years ago, in May 1993. She has performed various roles starting with the C&F department where entries were still dealt in manually at that time, then moved to be the office general secretary being closely in touch with clients and suppliers and working closely with the director and then in 2005 joined the finance department where she continued to deepen her knowledge of the business going through invoicing, clients’ account queries and receivables section.

Betty now is responsible for timely collection of our monies from clients and also responds to clients’ queries when they arise and escalates them to the departments in charge. She performs a very important role where cash is important to keep the company afloat and also to ensure client satisfaction.

Pricing Analyst

Elizabeth Mbugua

Elizabeth Mbugua is a seasoned Pricing Analyst with over 8 years of experience in the logistics and freight industry. She has worked with multiple local clearing and forwarding firms, including Rapid Kate Services and RTW Shipping and Logistics, focusing on freight business development. In her role, Elizabeth handles all quotations for the company, specializing in air, sea, and road freight, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing for clients.

Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence make her a valuable asset to the team, consistently delivering top-notch service and strategic pricing insights. Elizabeth’s dedication and comprehensive industry knowledge contribute significantly to the success of her team and the satisfaction of clients.

Airfreight Manager

Evance Odin

With over Nine Years in the Logistics industry, Evance specializes in airfreight, sea freight and transport focusing on consolidation and customs brokerage. His extensive background in international freight handling includes significant expertise in both air ans sea freight operations, ensuring a comprehensive approach to managing complex logistical challenges. At GCS, Evance plays a key role in managing air freight clients by understanding their needs for shipment consolidation and urgency, particularly for critical materials and spares. He keeps clients informed about industry updates and necessary documentation for efficient clearance. His prior experience in airfreight development and expertise in resolving disputes with government agencies, including Customs and KEBS, further enhance his  capability in delivering seamless logistics solutions.

Head of Declaration

Valentine Ochieng

Mr. Valentine Ochieng is the Declaration Manager for GCS and has a vast experience working in Customs Clearance procedures and logistics. This cuts across operations in SEZ, MUB, EPZ, Local import and export, Warehousing, transit and transshipment just to mention a few. He has a keen interest in excellent performance and achievement. He has previously worked for companies such as Africar Logistics, Bollore Transport and Logistics (AGL- Kenya) and Mitchell Cotts Freight Kenya LTD. During this time, he has held roles in Customs declaration, Port operation, logistics business operations and general management of a clearing and forwarding firm. His vast experience in tariff classification, has seen the organization win several dispute thus saving the client stress and time this facilitates smooth operation that meets the company’s KPI

Assistant Operations Manager Mombasa

James Maina Mundia

James has 16 years’ experience in customs brokerage services specifically clearing and forwarding services for imports. He brings hands on experience in clearing and forwarding services gained in the practice.

James is responsible for customs documentation specifically customs declaration of imports and also advising clients on customs issues and import procedures and requirements. He manages our documentation team and advises management and customers of any matters that arise and the best way forward.

Accounts Manager

Akbar Hyderali Kanani

Akbar is an experienced Accounts Manager with 9 years of experience in finance and accounting. He holds a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in finance. He specializes in financial analysis, budgeting, compliance, auditing, amongst many others. His commitment towards financial excellence and value addition, contributes towards the success of the organizations.

Mohammad Oomar Badir

From the island of Mauritius, Badir Korumtollee is a young and dynamic professional driving improvements in business operations. With an Honours Bachelor’s in Logistics and Transport Management and a Master’s in Project Management, he brings fresh perspectives and innovative solutions to our team.

Badir excels in streamlining processes, boosting productivity, and leading cross-functional teams. His strategic vision and keen eye for detail ensure continuous improvement and keep our company ahead in the market.
